Priority Code:

PocketBible can't find books on the storage card after a power down has occurred.

Symptoms: Books are installed on the storage card. After a power down, PocketBible can no longer read the books on the storage card. The most common problem with Pocket PCs and applications not recognizing data installed to a storage card, is not exiting applications properly before a power down. The X on most Pocket PCs does not exit. It only minimizes the application. If you allow the application to continually run when the Pocket PC is powered down, it can cause that application to "lose" the location of the data when that data is installed on a storage card. To properly exit ANY Pocket PC application:

  1. Tap the keyboard icon in the lower right corner to open the keyboard.
  2. Tap CTL + Q to quit.
OR, with PocketBible, tap Exit from the Edit menu. If you haven't set up an Exit on the Edit menu:
  1. Tap View, Options, More Options
  2. Tap the Advanced tab clear to the right.
  3. Put a check mark in the box for Add exit to menu.
  4. Tap OK. Try using the Edit, Exit with PocketBible for exiting and it should no longer "lose" the information. Or, install your books to main memory where this is not a problem.

Note: This issue affects many Pocket PC applications when the data files are stored on a storage card. There is a way that you can get around the inconvenience of having to shut down the application each time but you do need to have a certain amount of technical expertise to understand the procedure.
