How do I backup and restore my PocketBible data?

Your PocketBible 3 or later version data file contains your notes, bookmarks, highlights, and reading progress information. Due to the amount of information in this file, it should be backed up every time you've entered enough information that you don't want to enter it again.

The name of the file is Laridian Data.db and it is located in the \My Documents\Laridian Books folder in main memory.

To create a backup using Microsoft ActiveSync:

  1. Connect your Pocket PC to your computer.
  2. Open Microsoft ActiveSync on your desktop PC. It should show Connected. If it does not, remove the Pocket PC, do a soft reset and try again.
  3. Once it's connected, click the Explore button at the top of ActiveSync.
  4. Double-click My Pocket PC (or it might say My Windows Mobile Device).
  5. Double-click My Documents and then Laridian Books.
  6. Right-click the Laridian Data.db file and select Copy.
  7. Go to the location on your DESKTOP computer of where you want to save this file (such as a backup folder).
  8. Right-click and Paste
To create a backup using File Explorer and a storage card:
  1. On your Pocket PC go to Start > Programs and open File Explorer.
  2. In the upper left corner tap the down arrow and select My Device.
  3. Select My Documents > Laridian Books.
  4. Press AND HOLD your stylus on top of the Laridian Data.db file and select Copy.
  5. In the upper left corner tap the down arrow and select My Device.
  6. Select your storage card.
  7. Press AND HOLD your stylus on a blank part of the screen and select Paste.

Even though you have saved a copy to your storage card, you should save an additional copy to your desktop PC. This gives you an additional measure of safety should your device or storage card be stolen, lost or damaged.

To restore your file follow the same procedure in reverse order by copying and pasting the backup file into the My Documents > Laridian Books folder in main memory.
