Why am I seeing multiple tabs for the same book?

The Go To screen contains one "tab" for every open book. Each tab contains the form that allows you to choose a place in that book to view. To change locations, select the tab for the book of interest, then select where in that book you want to go. When you see the same book listed more than once, then you know that you have that book open more than once. The Go To will show you all of the books you have open, allowing you to choose which one you want to change, and which one you don't want to change. How can you open a second copy of the same book? There are several ways, but the most common way is to choose to view two books, and pick the same book that you are currently looking at as your second book. This allows you to see two different pages of the same book. For instance, you could look at the genealogy of Jesus as recorded in Matthew in the NIV on top, and the genealogy of Jesus as recorded in Luke in the NIV on bottom. Now, you'll see the NIV listed twice when you choose Go To or when you choose to pick a different book. How can you close the extra copies of the book? Choose View and Change Book, then check the Remove duplicate, unused books when done checkbox. Tap OK. The multiple copies will be closed (unless you are currently looking at them, of course). If you've done this and it still shows multiple tabs for the same book then you may actually have installed that book multiple times. Delete the duplicate books that you do not need. Books may be installed to one of several locations. In main memory or a storage card they are installed to a Laridian Books sub-folder of My Documents. They may also get installed to a Laridian Books root folder of the storage card. An additional location where the extra books may be installed is to an internal storage location. The names of these internal storage locations vary as to the device being used as follows:

  • IPAQ - IPAQ File Store
  • HP Jornada - Safe Store
  • Dell Axim - Built-in Storage
  • ViewSonic - My Flash Disk
  • Toshiba - Flash Rom
Look in the Laridian Books sub-folder of My Documents in the appropriate internal storage location.
