The Bible or book I'm using seems to have missing or misspelled words.

If you see a single word that appears to be misspelled, what you may actually be seeing is a variation of that word and not a misspelling at all. For example, the KJV has more than a hundred versions of the text, each with variations in spelling of different words. If you are seeing multiple words that are misspelled (like gibberish) or there are consistently missing words, this could indicate that the data file for that Bible or book has been damaged or incompletely installed. So, the first remedy should be to reinstall the affected book or Bible. If the problem persists after reinstallation, then...

Do you use an Internet filter such as CyberSitter or Cyber Patrol? These Internet filter programs - designed to block access to objectionable material on the Internet - can corrupt files as they are being installed from your PC to your handheld computer.

Why would an Internet filter disrupt ActiveSync? Because ActiveSync uses the same communications method to talk to your device as your browser uses to talk to the Internet. For example, CyberSitter scans network data traffic, including your Internet connection. If objectionable words are found, that word may be blocked or replaced with spaces. While this provides flexibility when blocking objectionable material, an unexpected side effect arises. Microsoft ActiveSync also uses network protocols to communicate with your Pocket PC or mobile computer. CyberSitter will therefore monitor the ActiveSync communications. Depending upon the filter settings, this could result in the data being changed as it is copied from your PC to your Pocket PC or mobile computer.

Your Laridian Bibles and books are highly compressed in order to reduce their size. Therefore, if you look directly at the contents of one of these books, the contents will appear to contain nonsense. Unfortunately, some of this "nonsense" occasionally triggers a filter condition, and CyberSitter or other program incorrectly concludes that objectionable material is being transmitted. When this occurs, the Laridian Bible or book may be changed while being copied from your PC to your Pocket PC or other mobile computer.

If you use an Internet filter and your Laridian Bibles or books have missing or misspelled words, then you can temporarily disable or turn off the filter, then reinstall the book again. Be sure to exit PocketBible before starting the reinstallation!
