We're often asked if Laridian is a "Christian company". When this came up again recently during an online discussion, I thought I'd comment on it here.

— Craig

Is Laridian® a Christian Organization?

People sometimes ask if we are a “Christian organization”. My answer is that the only “Christian organization” is the church. Laridian is not a church.

We could be described as an organization of Christians, though, as each of us here would happily identify with that Name.

Is Laridian a Ministry?

A “ministry” is an organization or activity that attends to the needs of others. While that might be a description of what we do, I prefer to think of us as an organization that serves the needs of those who minister — which are people like you. You are the ones doing the work. We just supply you with the tools you need for that work.

And of course, each of us here seek to minister to our brothers and sisters as God has gifted us.

Is Laridian a Charity?

Laridian is a for-profit business. Obtaining wealth has never been our motivation, but we have to make money in order to pay people to create the products you need to learn the scriptures and teach others. We have an obligation to be good stewards of what God gives us. We take that responsibility seriously.

Although Laridian is not a charity, we like to think that those of us who work here are charitable.

So What IS Laridian?

In the end, Laridian is a privately held, Iowa corporation that develops and sells Bible study software primarily for mobile computing devices. We try not to over-spiritualize what we do or who we claim to be because we don't want to be lumped in with those who dishonestly present themselves as such in order to increase sales.
