When I tap the PocketBible icon, nothing happens initially, then opens at random times.

There are several causes for this type of symptom and all are due to a conflict with other software running on the Pocket PC.

If you are a Cingular/AT&T customer, the most common cause is security and messaging software supplied by Cingular/AT&T.  The 8525 comes with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack.  There may be future PDAs that have that same package or something similar.  For other PDAs that use the Cingular/AT&T service, Xpress Mail is available for installation.  Both of these will cause the symptoms listed.

There are a couple of ways to get around the problem while still using those pieces of software.  With the 8525, you can tap PocketBible and then open the QWERTY keyboard.  That will usually cause PocketBible to launch.

If that doesn't work or if you are using a different PDA, tap PocketBible, open another application such as Calendar or Contacts and then immediately close that application.  PocketBible will then launch.

Uninstalling Xpress Mail and using a different piece of email software will also correct the problem.

GoodLink is another piece of software that can cause these symptoms.  It blocks PocketBible from launching if GL is running. Select Menu and Shut Down from within GoodLink.  Then launch PocketBible.

Ultimate Theft Alarm will allow PocketBible to launch the first time but if you exit and then try to launch again, it blocks PocketBible from launching a second time until you do a soft reset.

Of course, we would prefer that this not be a problem at all.  We'd like to encourage you to contact the developers of the software causing the conflict on your PDA and explain the problem to them.  They can download and install our demo version for testing purposes and we'd be happy to work with any of them to help them get it corrected.
