Priority Code:

BOOKLOADER: Can't create My Documents directory on device.

This error message will only occur when installing books. There are several possible causes and solutions for this error message.

  • The first step in trying to correct this error is to reboot the desktop computer with Start -> Shutdown -> Restart. As the computer is rebooting, do a soft reset on your CE device by following the manufacturer's instructions. After both systems have been rebooted, synch up and give the installation another try.
  • If you own MacAffee's anti-virus and security program which includes firewall protection, disable the firewall protection temporarily. This can interfere with installing software using Microsoft ActiveSync. If you are unsure as to how to disable the firewall, check the Help file that is a part of the program. There are probably other firewall applications that can affect this installation as well so if you don't have MacAffee's but you have another product, you might try disabling it temporarily. Once the firewall protection is disabled, try the installation again.
  • If neither of these suggestions work to correct the problem, a manual installation can be done by using the following procedure: If you have not already done so, you must install your PocketBible application before beginning this procedure. The PocketBible installation procedure is NOT affected by this error message, only the translation and book files.
    1. Open WinZip. If you don't own WinZip, you can download and install a free demo version by clicking here.
    2. With WinZip open, select Open.
    3. Browse to the location of the setup file with which you're having this problem. For example, if this happens with the NIV, locate the nivsetup.exe file you downloaded from our website to your desktop computer.
    4. Select the file and click Open. In the dialog box that appears, you will see a file with a LBK or a LDR file extension.
    5. Click Extract and select Desktop for the "Extract to" location at the top.
    6. Click Extract.
    7. If you have any other setup files with which this error occurs, use the same procedure to extract them.
    8. Exit WinZip.
    9. Synch your Pocket PC to the computer so Microsoft ActiveSync shows "Connected".
    10. In ActiveSync, click the Explore button.
    11. Double-click My Pocket PC, My Documents, and Laridian Books if you want the files installed to main memory. Double-click My Pocket PC, Storage Card, My Documents, Laridian Books if you want the files installed to a storage card location (you may need to create the folder if it doesn't exist).
    12. With this Explore window open, locate the file or files that you extracted to the desktop (such as NIV.LBK). Right-click the file and select COPY.
    13. In the Explore window, Laridian Books folder, right-click and select Paste. If you are asked about a file conversion, select yes or ok.
    14. When the copy process is complete, continue with any other files you need to copy over. Then exit Explore.
    15. On the Pocket PC go to Start and Programs.
    16. Tap PocketBible to open.
