How do I use my Study Bible or other reference book?

This article is for PocketBible 2.  If you are using PocketBible 3, click here to be taken to the PocketBible 3 article.

PocketBible is the reader that allows you to access your various books. Your book may be a Bible, a Study Bible, a Commentary, a Dictionary, or something else. They all work the same and you can use them together. PocketBible allows you to open a two window view. You may use this feature to view two Bibles at the same time, two reference books at the same time, or a Bible and a reference book. It's your choice.

  1. Open your first book of choice by tapping View and Change Book.
  2. Select the book and tap OK.
  3. Select your second book by tapping View and Two Books.
  4. Select the second book and tap OK. You are now in a two book view. If you have 2 Bibles open or you have a Bible and a reference book open, you can synchronize them.
  5. Tap the Bible window that you wish to synchronize to. This makes that window the active window.
  6. Tap View and Synchronize. You should then see the second window move to the same location.
There are a few items that are important to understand about the synchronization process.
  • The book will only synchronize to the Go to location. So, if you "go to" John 3:16 and then synchronize, then it will synchronize to John 3:16. If you then scroll down to John 3:20 and try to synchronize, it will still synchronize to John 3:16. PocketBible can't recognize a scroll. If you're using a commentary or reference book with the Bible then you should use the Next Page feature to get to the new location in the second window. Or, if it's a big leap then use Go to to go to the new location.
  • The book will not synchronize if the second book doesn't have information on that verse. For example, the Ryrie Study Bible does not have commentary information about every verse in the Bible. So if you "go to" a location in the Bible which does not have any commentary information and you select the synchronization option then nothing will move.
  • PocketBible does not have an autosynchronization feature. Each time you go to a new location, you will need to resynchronize.
