Blackberry Installation Procedures

The Noah Bible Study Viewer must be installed to main memory. You can either download the install files from Laridian to your computer or, if your Blackberry has an Internet connection, you can visit the BEIKS mobile website and download and install it directly from your Blackberry. For the over-the-air installation instructions, scroll down to the very bottom of this article.

The Bibles can be installed to either main memory or an external storage card. At this time, you must download and install the Bibles from a computer. They cannot be installed over-the-air directly to your Blackberry.

To install Noah Bible Study Viewer or a Bible translation from the file you downloaded from Laridian (or BEIKS) to main memory:

  1. Connect your BlackBerry to the desktop PC
  2. Open your Desktop Manager and verify that you have a good connection. This will allow the files to be sent straight to your Blackberry.
    • If the connection is not there during the installation of the files then you will need to use the Desktop Manager's Application Loader to load the files manually after the installation is complete.

If you are installing the Bible translation file(s) you downloaded from Laridian to an external card then you need to:

  1. Exit Desktop Manager if currently open
  2. Connect your Blackberry to the desktop PC
  3. Enable your Blackberry as Mass Storage Device
    • Either select Mass Storage Mode when you plug your Blackberry in or you can check that under options on your Blackberry device.

The installation procedure if you have a Windows computer is to:

  1. Download the files to a location on your DESKTOP PC
  2. Double-click the setup files on your DESKTOP PC and follow the instructions that appear
  3. Eventually, you will get to a screen that shows the files to be installed. You will see one set to be installed to main memory and one set to be installed to an external card. Remove the highlight from the one that you do NOT want to have install. Then continue with the installation.

*If you have problems with this procedure, please see the alternate Windows installation procedure below.

The Mac, Linux, and alternate Windows installation procedure is listed below. Some people may find this method easier for installing the Bibles from Windows to their Blackberry than the previous procedures.

You will need to use the .ZIP/Mac installation files for this process (even if you are using Windows or Linux):

  1. Go to http://www.laridian.com
  2. Select Blackberry Devices
  3. Click on the Login/Download button at the top-right of the screen
  4. Log into your account
  5. Click on the "Download" button
  6. You will need to download the Blackberry/Noah 4 download for Mac. These should be .ZIP files. Make a note of where you save these on your computer.

To manually install the Bibles to your media card:

  1. Enable your Blackberry as Mass Storage Device
    • Either select Mass Storage Mode when you plug your Blackberry in or you can check that under options on your Blackberry device.
  2. Unzip the file you downloaded to your computer from Laridian
  3. Browse to the folder that it created (ex. RIM_BEIKS_Bible_NIV_4.0 for the NIV Bible)
  4. Browse to the folder for the Bible translation (ex. NIV)
  5. Browse to the SDCard folder
  6. Copy both .bbr files to your Blackberry media card in the \Blackberry\BEIKS\Bibles\ folder.

An alternate way to install Noah Bible Study Viewer is to download it directly to your device using the Internet, which is also called an over-the-air installation:

  1. On your Blackberry, open the browser and do Menu > Go To... > http://mobile.beiks.com
  2. Click on the "Blackberry by RIM" link
  3. Click on the "Noah Bible Viewer" link
  4. Click on the "Download" link
  5. Click on the "Download" button that shows up
  6. After the program installs, launch it
    • Noah may show up as "Bible Viewer" or "eStudy Bible" if it does not say "Noah"
    • If you do not see Noah on the main screen, it may have been installed into the Downloads or Application folder
  7. Register it with the registration code you received from BEIKS after buying Noah
