BookBuilder Standard enables you to publish reference books for use with PocketBible for Windows Mobile (sold separately) as well as other Laridian products: PocketBible for Windows PC and MyBible for Palm OS (BookBuilder Pro required to build books for PocketBible for iPhone/iPod Touch).

You'll format your book with the specific HTML codes outlined in the documentation (called tagging). When your tagging is complete, simply run the BookBuilder program to create a file that can be read by PocketBible or MyBible. These are the same techniques and tools used in-house by Laridian to create Bibles and books!

Note: The BookBuilder program and User's Guide are run from your Windows PC, not your PDA.

• User's Guide - includes detailed, easy-to-understand suggestions for preparing your material for processing by the BookBuilder program. You'll need to start with your material in text format and use the outlined subset of HTML codes to format the text. (It is recommended that you already know or are willing to learn HTML from resources outside the documentation.) User Guide topics include:
  • How to use HTML to format your documents
  • Strategy for creating Bibles and books for PocketBible and MyBible
  • How to use Laridian extensions to HTML to indicate Bible-related features in your books (i.e. verse references, synchronization, Strong's numbers, etc.)
  • How to compile your book using the BookBuilder program. Included are explanations for all possible error messages and warnings.
  • And more!
• Samples - sample text from a Bible, dictionary, commentary and devotional are included to help guide you in your own tagging.
• BookBuilder program - this program will take your tagged text file and automatically convert it into a file which can be read by PocketBible or MyBible.

There is no limit to the material that you can add to PocketBible.* Here are just a few suggestions:

• Your own writings—this is a perfect format if you would like convenient access to your own thoughts about the Bible.
• Sermon or Bible study notes
• Classic reference materials in the public domain downloaded from the internet.

*Copyright law applies to anything you publish using the BookBuilder. It is your responsibility to determine the copyright status of the books you publish with BookBuilder, and what rights you have with respect to reproducing, viewing, and distributing those books. Frequently Asked Questions

• What exactly am I purchasing? You are purchasing documentation on how to tag books for use with PocketBible and MyBible and a program (BookBuilder) that will take your tagged file and convert it into a format that these programs will recognize.
• Is this difficult? Running the BookBuilder is very easy. Tagging the document will take time and some HTML skills. We recommend that you know a little HTML (or be willing to learn it on your own) to do this.
• [Book Name] is one of my favorites. Can I publish this for my own use even though it has a current copyright on it? We do not intend this tool to be used to violate the copyright of any Bible or reference book. Copyright is a difficult issue and we include a discussion of it in the User's Guide. We strongly encourage you to honor the copyrights of authors who labor to bring you Bibles and reference materials.
• Can I sell materials that I create using the BookBuilder? This version of the BookBuilder is recommended for publishing books that you intend for your own personal use or very limited distribution (i.e. Bible study group). If you plan to sell or otherwise widely distribute your books, or if you would like these books to be usable with the iPhone or iPod Touch, you need to be using the Professional Edition of BookBuilder and submitting your tagged books to us when you're done so we can assign a unique publisher and book ID.
