About this Series

The Cornerstone Biblical Commentary series provides up-to-date, evangelical scholarship on the Old and New Testaments. Each volume is designed to equip pastors and Christian leaders with exegetical and theological knowledge to better understand and apply God's Word by presenting the message of each passage as well as an overview of other issues surrounding the text. The commentary series has been structured to help readers understand the meaning of Scripture, passage-by-passage, through the entire Bible. While accessible to all, the discussions are fairly high-level in terms of scriptural interpretation.

About the Author(s)

Richard D. Patterson, PhD, was chairman of the Department of Biblical Studies and professor of Semitic Languages and literatures at Liberty University and now serves as distinguished professor emeritus. He has been involved in numerous Bible projects including the NLT Study Bible and The Expositor's Bible Commentary. He has been published in major periodicals, and is co-author of Joel and Kings (with Hermann Austel) for the second edition of the Expositor's Bible Commentary series (Zondervan).

Andrew E. Hill, PhD, is Professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. He has served as an adjunct faculty member for the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies since 1999 and is coauthor of A Survey of the Old Testament . His articles have appeared in such scholarly publications as Hebrew Annual Review, Journal of Biblical Literature, and Vetus Testamentum.
