About the Author(s)

John Darby was born in Westminister, England in 1801 and educated at the Westminister School and Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in 1819. He practiced law for one year, at which time he began to feel that his profession was incompatible with his religious beliefs. Darby was ordained as a deacon of the Church of Ireland in 1825 and as a priest in 1826.

Darby is widely known as the Father of Dispensationalism, dividing the scope of history into seven dispensations, each consisting of a new stage of God's revelation. He also wrote a translation of the Bible, Darby's New Translation.
