Description

Torrey’s Topical Textbook is a topical reference tool for use in studying the Bible. It includes 628 topical entries with over 20,000 Scripture references. Torrey's Topical Textbook is designed to be used similar to a dictionary, but instead of looking up the definition of a word it is used to look up topics.

Each article includes links to Bible references related to that topic. While some topics are brief, and contain only a few Bible references, many other topics are more complex, and contain sub-topics with their own Bible references. These sub-topics are organized in an outline format.

The Introduction includes practical ideas on how to study the Bible including thoughts on how to study the Bible topically.

About the Author(s)

Reuben A. Torrey, 1856-1928.

Reuben A Torrey was born in New Jersey, in January of 1856. He graduated from Yale Divinity school in 1878 and began his ministry in Ohio that same year. During his life he worked closely with D.L. Moody, becoming the superintendent of what is now the Moody Bible Institute and later the pastor of what is now Moody Church. R.A. Torrey traveled the world conducting evangelistic meetings, teaching and writing. He wrote over 40 titles, a number of them on how to effectively study the Bible.
