How do I install the audio files to my iPod (Windows)?

The audio files are not downloadable. They were only available on CD or DVD in the following translations: New Living Translation and The Message Bibles. For simplicity purposes, the instructions below will use the initials NLT. If you own The Message Bible, substitute MSG for the NLT.

To install the audio files, it is recommended that the files be copied to the desktop PC first and then transferred to the iPod. By following this procedure it will not require that the DVD or CDs be in the drive when the transfer is made.

  1. Place the DVD or first CD in the ROM drive.
  2. Create a folder on your hard drive (i.e. C:/) - we suggest calling it NLT AUDIO.
  3. Copy all the MP3 files from the CD or DVD to your NLT folder.
  4. When the CD-ROM/DVD drive stops spinning then you should see the files in the NLT AUDIO folder. If you have a DVD you can now skip to step 16.  Otherwise, remove the first CD and insert the second CD and copy the MP3 files for each CD. Repeat until you've gone through all 5 CDs (4 for MSG). When done you will see files from Genesis through Revelation.
  5. Once all MP3 files are copied to this NLT AUDIO folder then you are ready to move them into iTunes.
  6. Open iTunes. Your iPod should be disconnected right now.
  7. In iTunes click the Library section.
  8. Click File and "Add Folder to Library" and choose the NLT Audio Folder. You will then see the files being added. There are a lot of files so give it time to complete.
  9. When it's done, connect your iPod and walk away. This is going to take awhile for all of the files to transfer.
  10. Once it is safe to disconnect your iPod, go to Music and select Albums on your iPod. You should see 2 "New Living Translation" folders under Albums. The top contains the NT files and the bottom one contains the OT files.
