How do I go to a specific chapter and verse using Graffiti or a Keypad?

MyBible 2 and MyBible 3 (from the MyBible Help file):

To go to a verse in the current book write the chapter number, a period, and the verse number in the Graffiti area. You can also use a colon, comma or "return" to separate chapter and verse.

To go to a verse in another book first tap the current book in the upper right corner of the screen and select a book from the list that is shown. Then use the method above to write the chapter and verse in the Graffiti area

NOTE to keyboard/keypad users: If you do not have a graffiti area and use a keypad instead (or you have a keyboard attached), enter the information using the keypad. For example, to go to John 3.16, tap the upper right corner to select the book of John. Then enter 3.16 on the keypad. You may need to use a function key in order to activate the numbers on the keypad.

MyBible 4 & 5 (from the User Guide):

To go to a verse in the current chapter, write the verse number in the Graffiti area. The numbers written will be shown in the upper-right corner. Don't worry if you make a mistake; just backspace over it. When you're done, after a short pause to be sure that you're done writing, MyBible will go to that verse. Or, write a '/' after the last number to go immediately.

To go to a verse in a different chapter of the current book, write the chapter number, a period (or dot), and the verse number in the Graffiti area. You can also use a colon or comma to separate chapter and verse. The numbers written will be shown in the upper-right corner. Don't worry if you make a mistake; just backspace over it. When you're done, after a short pause to be sure that you're done writing, MyBible will go to that chapter and verse. Or, write a '/' after the last number to go immediately.

Helpful hints on using Graffiti: Practice is the most important advice that we can give. The more you use Graffiti, the more comfortable you'll be. However, here are some hints that may help you.

  • Write large numbers and letter, using at least 1/2 of the space in the pad.
  • When writing a letter, use the left side of the Graffiti area.
  • When writing a number, use the right side of the Graffiti area.
  • Most Graffiti characters are written without lifting your stylus. Do not lift the stylus while writing a letter or number. But do lift the stylus between each letter or number.
  • Write the letters or numbers on top of each other, not to the side of each other.
  • A steady pace is often more successful than writing in spurts.
When Entering a Bible Reference in MyBible:
  • Write the numbers in the Graffiti numeric area (to the right).
  • Write each number on top of each other. Don't try to write them side-by-side.
  • Use a dot between the chapter and the verse. For instance, write 3 dot 1 6 for 3:16. Make the dot by tapping once in the number area. For instance, 3 tap 1 6.
  • All Graffiti numbers are written exactly as they would be written on a piece of paper except the number 4 which is a down and right stroke, similar to an L.
