How do I install books to a storage card (Zondervan NIV Study Bible CD)?
The Zondervan NIV Study Bible CD is created and produced by Mobile Digital Media. If you are having trouble with the installation on their CD, we'd like to encourage you to send them an email at productsupport@gomdm.com. The most common problem is running out of space on the Palm handheld or using more space than you'd like and MDM did not include an installation routine that allows you to install files to an external storage location despite our warnings. The following instructions will help you to do a manual installation of the Bible and book files to a card.
Installing files to an external media location:
- Double-click My Computer.
- Select Tools and Folder Options.
- Click the View tab at the top.
- Scroll down to where you see Show hidden files and folders and place a check mark in the box.
- Just below that you will see an option for Hide extensions for known file types. Take the check mark OUT of the box for that option.
- Click OK and Exit My Computer.
- If the CD is not currently in the drive, put it in. If the installation starts, cancel out of it.
- If you already have Bible and book files installed that you would like to remove from main memory and install to the storage location:
- Open MyBible on your Palm handheld.
- Tap the upper left corner. Select Edit and Delete Bible Module. Delete all Bible modules but do NOT delete the Highlights files if you see any listed.
- Exit MyBible and open DailyReader (if installed).
- Tap the upper left corner. Select Book and Delete. You can delete all books except the one you currently have open. That one can be deleted later after files are reinstalled to the card.
- Exit DailyReader.
- On your DESKTOP PC, go to Start, Search, For Files and Folders. You may or may not also need to select All files and folders.
- Enter INSTAPP.EXE and do your search.
- When the file is found, double-click it to open the Install Tool.
- If any files are already in Install Tool, remove them by clicking the file and select Remove.
- Click Add.
- For the Look in location at the top, click the down arrow and select your CD-ROM drive (NIV Study Bible)
- At the bottom of this dialog box, for the Files of type, select All Palm File Types.
- Double-click the Content folder.
- Select ALL files by doing a single-click on the top file, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and press the END key on your keyboard (over by the numeric keys on the right). This should highlight all files. If you don't want everything installed, you can hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and single-click each file you DO want to install so they are highlighted.
- Click Open and they will be added to Install Tool.
- Click Change Destination.
- Select all files on the left using the same method mentioned previously (click, Shift, End).
- Click the double arrows in the middle of the screen pointing to the right.
- Now we need to move some files back to the left side. Look through your list of files. You will see PRC and PDB file endings. Move ALL PRC files to the left (no exceptions).
- When only PDB files are on the right, click OK.
- Verify that the PRC files are showing to go to the handheld and the PDB files are showing to go to the card.
- You may not want the MDM file or the Palm-Atari files installed. Now is a good time to remove them from this list.
- Click Done.
- HotSync.
