PALM/Launcher/filename.pdb/ requires version 1.xxx of the Laridian Book Engine.

This error message indicates that you are not using a revision of MyBible that supports the book indicated in the error message. Anytime we come out with a new book, MyBible may have also been revised to recognize that new book. These minor revisions are free to customers who have purchased or registered their MyBible software with Laridian. Return to the login page and log back into your account which shows your MyBible purchase or CD registration. Then download and install the updated MyBible file located in your account. Your account will always show the latest version of the software you've purchased. Once the update has been installed then open MyBible and the error should no longer occur. If the error still occurs, here are some things to check:

  • Did the file actually HotSync to your Palm?
    1. On your desktop PC go to Start > Search > For Files and Folders.
    2. For the search criteria, enter INSTAPP.EXE.
    3. Do the search.
    4. When the file is found, double-click the file and it will open Install Tool.
    5. Select the correct user name if applicable. Is the MyBible.prc file still in the Install Tool? If yes then it didn't HotSync over. Check the "Install" conduit in your Palm Desktop software to make sure it's enabled. This option is located under HotSync > Custom in your Palm Desktop software.
    6. If the "Install" conduit is enabled and it still doesn't HotSync, verify that you have enough free space on your Palm OS device. It is recommended that you keep 1 meg free.
  • Is the original MyBible file located on a storage card? If you originally installed MyBible to a storage card then the new installation will not be able to overwrite the file. Applications should ALWAYS be installed to main memory. Most applications take very little space. It's the data files that take up the space. Put your Bibles and books on the storage card. Leave MyBible in main memory. If you have MyBible installed to a storage card (not just the Bibles and books), delete it from the storage card. Then install the updated file to main memory.
