NIV Study Bible: Fatal Exception Error (or Fatal Alert) in MyBible after installing.

There are several things that could potentially cause this error to occur after installing the NIV Study Bible.

  1. This error may occur if you did not download and install the MyBible update that is required to use the NIV Study Bible. To check the version of MyBible you are using, open MyBible. Tap Options and About MyBible. You need to have version 040910 (Sept 10, 2004) or later if using MyBible 3. If you do not, log back into your Laridian account which shows your MyBible 3.0 download purchase or CD registration (registration instructions are included with the CD). Download and install MyBible 3.0 from your account. Your account will always contain the latest version of the products you've purchased. If you own and have MyBible 4 installed, then you have a version that is compatible. When you look at Options and About MyBible, it will show MyBible 4 at the top if you have that version installed.
  2. This error may occur if you are low on free space in main memory. To check the amount of available memory, go to the home screen of your Palm handheld. Tap the upper left corner and select INFO. On newer handhelds you might be able to get by with as little as 500k free but with older handhelds (OS 4.1 or older), you may need to free up as much as 1.4 megs of space for your programs to operate properly.
  3. This error may occur if one or more of your NIV SB modules is corrupted. If you find that the error occurs in just one section of the Bible but not in others then it's probably due to a corrupt NIV SB module. The NIV SB is made up of four modules:
    • m-1 Gen - 2 Kings
    • m-2 1 Chr - S of S
    • m-3 Isaiah - Malachi
    • m-4 New Testament
You can use Edit and Delete Bible Module in MyBible to delete the module you believe to be bad. Then use Quick Install or Install Tool to ADD the appropriate file back in from C:\Program Files\Laridian\MyBible NIV Study Bible
