How do I install MyBible and Bibles to my Palm OS device (download)?

  • Palm Users installing from a Windows PC:
    To install your MyBible software:
    1. Create a folder on your desktop called "Laridian". To do this, right-click a blank location on your desktop, select New, Folder, type "Laridian" and press enter.
    2. Log into your Laridian account. Click here to be taken to the Login page.
    3. Click the Download button to go to your download page.
    4. Scroll down the page and locate MyBible. If you have more than one version of MyBible, make sure you find the latest version that you've purchased.
    5. Click the Download (Windows) link to the left of the file.
    6. Click Save.
    7. When you receive the Save As dialog box, look at the "Save in" location at the top of the dialog box. This is the location where the file will be saved. Click the down arrow and select "Desktop". Then locate the "Laridian" folder you created and double-click the folder. It should now say Save in "Laridian".
    8. Click Save and the file will download to the Laridian folder on your desktop.
    9. Follow this same procedure for all files you wish to install. Then exit the Internet.
    10. Open the "Laridian" folder on your desktop.
    11. Double-click the files, one at a time, to run the setup. It may take several seconds for the setup program to start. Please be patient!
    12. Follow the instructions on screen. We recommend that you accept the defaults. Some files (but not all), will give you the option to install to main memory or "extension media card". If you have a storage card, or you have a T5 or LifeDrive, you should always select the "extension media card" option when you are given the choice. This is especially important when installing commentaries and reference books. If you do not select that option then it could potentially cause your HotSync to fail.
    13. When you have completed the setup for all files, HotSync and the files will transfer to the handheld.
    14. When done with the HotSync, go to the home screen of your handheld. Make sure it shows ALL in the upper right corner and then locate your MyBible icon to open.

NOTE: You must install both MyBible and at least one Bible. MyBible and Bibles are purchased and downloaded separately (a bundle package contains both).

  • Palm Users installing from a Macintosh:
    To install your MyBible software:
    1. Download the MyBible application from the Laridian Web site to your desktop computer.
    2. Download at least one Bible translation from the Laridian Web site to your desktop computer.
    3. During the download process, Stuff It Expander will decompress the file and create a folder with the same name as the setup file (such as mb4setup). You will need version 6.0 or later of Stuff It Expander. If you do not currently own Stuff It Expander, click here to download a free version.
    4. Start the HotSync Manager application on your Mac, either from the Instant Palm Desktop menu on your menu bar, or by double-clicking the HotSync Manager application icon.
    5. Choose Install from the HotSync menu.
    6. Click and drag the decompressed mybible.prc file from the setup folder (such as mb4setup) that was created during the download process and drop it into the installer. PRC files must be installed to main memory.
    7. Click and drag the decompressed Bible and book files (ending in .pdb) from the appropriate setup folder and drop them into the installer. PDB files can be installed to a storage card. Reference books and commentaries should always be installed to a storage card.
    8. Click Change Destination to move the PDB files from main memory to the storage card location. Remember, the PRC files must remain in main memory.
    9. HotSync and the files will transfer to the handheld.
