BookBuilder Professional consists of several programs which you can use to create electronic books compatible with Bible software from Laridian, including:
The documentation for the BookBuilder program describes the tagging format that is used to create Bibles and books for all of these products.
The main components of the BookBuilder Professional product are:
In addition, we've provided a trial version of TextPad — a powerful text editor that efficiently edits large files and has sophisticated search and replace functions. We use this program in-house and thought you'd like to give it a try. If you like it, you can follow the instructions to purchase it directly from the TextPad Web site.
You can access online help for each of the programs in this package by using the links in the lower-left window of your browser. Help text is displayed in the window on the right, and the table of contents is displayed in the window on the left.
One of the easiest ways to understand how to tag a book for BookBuilder is to look at examples of actual tagged books. We've installed sample books in a folder called Samples in the folder in which you installed BookBuilder. On most computers this will one of these two folders:
C:\Program Files\Laridian\BookBuilder Professional\Samples
C:\Program Files (x86)\Laridian\BookBuilder Professional\Samples
You'll find the samples in the Program Files (x86) folder if you're running a 64-bit version of Windows.
Take a look at the samples to get an idea of what your finished books will look like. You can run the samples through the BookBuilder program and install them on your device if you want to see what they look like in PocketBible.
If you plan to distribute your books to others, you should follow the instructions at www.laridian.com/publish so that we can assign a unique Publisher ID and Book ID to your book and do your final build. This guarantees that your book will not conflict with any other user-created books installed by each of the people to whom you distribute your book.
With older versions of PocketBible for iOS you had to follow the instructions on the website mentioned above in order to view the books you create with BookBuilder on your iOS device. You no longer need to do that. Instructions for installing user-created books into PocketBible for iOS are included in the Help documentation for that program. Just remember if you plan to distribute your books beyond your immediate circle of friends and acquaintances you should submit it to us for processing.
